Usila's downtown street has been paved just last years in June 2003. Seventy years of PRI dictatorship ended and then the roads finally got paved....mmm . Various people told me that they have been asking for the road to be paved for 50 years. Josefina Mendoza showing me her weaving techniques .Most young adults only wear the huipil during fiestas, the region is very hot and humid and most prefer the lighter cotton cloth dresses. This is a side view of the weaving process with the old belt in the background. The huipil takes about 3 month to complete and that of course depends on the detail woven into the garment. |
