Papatlatla is now just off the new paved highway between Calnali and Atlapexco . There are many women that continue to wear cross stitched embroidered blouses. Bob Freund 2/13/2006 Return to Nahua of Calnali, Hidalgo

The textiles from the town are a wonderful cross-stitch design, with a machine stitch pattern around the neckline. The two women that posed for me had very similar blouses on. On this page is a picture of the women in the collective. None of them are in costume. This is typical of towns in transition; the textile skill remains and they try to use it to generate some income. However, the modernization among the young is too strong and only the older women still conserve their textile traditions. Example 6,7 and 8 were taken Dec 2005 on a trip to the Huasteca region.
