Jonotla, Puebla, Mexico is a municipal capital with a mixed population of Nahua and Totonacan speakers. There is a Chapel dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe, which is said to be miraculous. A few older women still use traditional attire. ©Robert Freund 2007 12/22/2007

Jonotla Puebla is modernizing after many years of neglect. The towns square and street are paved and the municipal government is on a road building spree. The indigenous people who wear traditional dress is all over 70. The DIF runs a program to help people over 70 with basic food and supplies. During a registration I saw a number of people in traditional costume. Over the three days I was in the town, I saw no one wearing traditional dress in the street.
