Pantepec is located inland from Xicotepec Puebla. In 1994 the road was a very slow drive due to many rocks; we also had to cross a river. I was actually charged a toll to drive about 5 mph down the road for 1.5 hours. |
Pantepec is located on top of a hill; the town was clean and orderly. The president’s (mayor) office was of help directing me to Anna Maria Mateos. |
Here is Anna Maria Mateos in 1994 is wearing her traditional quechquemitl. She had two quechquemitl left, this one which she sold to me and the other to buried in. |
This quechquemitl is now extinct. There may be some that are worn during celebration but none were visible during my visit. |
Machine stitched blouse worn under the quechquemitl. |
