In a quick visit to this village the women responded to the idea of preserving the culture of their textiles. A group of women at the local store decided to pose for the study and it turned out wonderful. Here we can see the variations the style and fashion brings in the villages. Although all the women wear the white skirt, each one has a slightly different design. The blouses are distinctive there are three types of embroidery, hooked, running stitch, French stitch and cross stitch. Over the past few years the hooked style of blouse has been gaining favor. Cotton thread is a thing of the past and synthetic thread is used almost exclusively. The combination of a synthetic colored body and the bright colors of the adorned bata give the Totonacan women and extraordinary colorful look.

During this trip I noticed at least 5 different patterns woven into the belts, I asked about it and the women said it was personal taste that determines which belt they choose. Normally a woman will have 1 or 2 belts as they are the most expensive part of the costume.
