In many towns, I present myself to the authorities and explain my purpose, in the case of Caxhuacan I went to the President of the DIF which helps the family in the towns. The woman looked at my card and then started to thumb through her note book. She had my name written down; someone had given her my name, which never hurts! She was handing out “dispensas” ,a box of basic food stuffs to a number of people and those people were asked to stand for pictures. So I was able in a short time to document a large variety of costume of Caxhuacan.

The mayor came in and gave me a video of the festival which is interesting, the towns people make giant paper figures and fill them with hot air from torches and launch them.

They also brought me over to the only belt weaver in town; there is a video of her weaving on the BLIP.TV web site
