Tetelilla, Tuzamapan, Puebla, Mexico is a Totonacan town. Traditional attire has all but disappeared except for the seniors in the town. During festivals the younger generation wears the costume but on a day to day basis they use western clothing. ©Robert Freund 2007 12/23/2007

Tetelilla is the second largest town in the municipality. There are still women of the older generation that continue to wear the traditional Totonacan attire for the region. The belt is slightly smaller than those worn in the central areas of the Sierra Norte of Puebla.

While walking around the town I saw 5 older women going to and from the central area wearing traditional textiles. During festivals many younger women wear the costume for the celebration. My guide, who was the second in the town, spoke no Totonacan.
