There is a distinctive woven ribbing on the bottom of both the skirt and huipil. The red sash folded in three, and wrapped around the waist a number of times. The white sash pictured here is also from Yaganiza purchased in 1980 in Oaxaca City as part of the complete costume. Why it is white is a mystery unless it is a men’s sash or not yet dyed. On the right, the hand woven skirt is gathered and pleated around the waist on the bottom there is the distinctive woven ribbing. |
