Unraveling Threads: The Mexican Indigenous Textile Project:
Fifty photographic prints highlighting the beauty of the Mexican indigenous people, their customs and textiles will be on display from September 1 to November 30, 2017 at the Glaser Center in Santa Rosa.
Show photographer and historian Robert Freund will describe his dream of preserving, through photo documentation, the vanishing textiles of Mexico’s indigenous peoples during a reception, free and open to the public, on Sunday, September 17 from 3:00 - 5:00 at the Glaser Center, 547 Mendocino Avenue, Santa Rosa, Ca. The Glaser Center is open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 2 pm.
After retiring in 2000, Freund began by documenting his extensive textile collection. Then as he traveled from village to village, it became clear that the stories of these peoples are much deeper than just their clothing. Thus, the Mexican Indigenous Textile project was born.
