Yoloxochitl means Flower of the Heart it is located 5 kilometers on a dirt road from the municipal town of San Luis Acatlan which is located 139 kilometer from Acapulco heading west on the coastal road. The turn in from Marquelia is not marked (1/05) the road is in good condition and now goes all the way to Tlalpa. The town is now starting to experience some progress but like most indigenous towns it is lagging. When I arrived in the town I was directed to Lucia Fransisca Pana Ira and her siter who willingly expalin the costume. The costume in the collection was purchased from a Mixtec vendor from Yoloxochitl at the anual fair in Igualapa during lent. Lucia posed for the picture in a huipil very similar to the one in the collection. The ruffled skirt is pleated and gathered. The homes in town vary from sticks and mud to brick, most being the stick type. The views coming into town are fantastic.Yoloxochil means "Flower of the Heart", it is located 5 kilometers on a dirt road from the municipal town of San Luis Acatlan which is 139 kilometer from Acapulco heading west on the coastal road.
