The town had some wonderful buildings with great murals painted on them. The town square was ok, but it wasn’t the best of the P’urhépechas villages. The stores that sold the skirts, blouses and delantals were full of goods and gave me an idea of the different styles that were being used currently. The aprons worn day-to-day are shown on the top row third right. The ladies at the store kept emphasizing that the costume they were showing me was for a married woman. Since the girl that modeled it was not married it was important to clarify that. On the next trip I will find out more about the distinctions. The model’s name is Seica Gonzales Dominquez and the clothing is from the store of Maritza Custadio Medina. The pleated skirts are worn by many people in town.
