San Felipe Santiago located near villa de Allende , state of Mexico. The town has a long handicraft tradition of fine embroidery and wool products including ponchos, table runners, bedspreads and napkins.Bob Freund 5/16/2005

On this page we have an assortment of people in the traditional dress of San Felipe. The second photo is of natural dyed wool used in the different crafts in the village. If you are interested in the names of the plants used to tint the wool write me. The first and third photos are mother and daughter. The Mazahua belts pictured here are from a promoter of Mazahua textiles who is now retires. The embroidery on the lower row has my finger in it for perspective. |
