Mixtla de Altamirano Barrio 1 - The costume in this barrio for the town is a simple home made blouse, a solid colored skirt and reboso. The woman pictured here is a "partera" or midwife.

This women lives the part of the municipality known as Barrio Uno, she is a midwife. Her dress is typical of the more modern style worn by the women of Mixtla. The wool wrap skirt is replaced by a black skirt and simple cotton blouse and under blouse and a reboso. I have noticed that there are different style reboso used in the town, which probably has to do with economic situation more than style. While there is a weaving collective still weaving belts few women in town still use them and I have seen them for sale in the market of Zongolica to women from other regions of the Sierra
