Indigenous people who speak the lowland dialect of Tzeltal live in a number of municipios located in the northern part of Chiapas. The largest of these municipios is Chilon. Bachajon is the second largest town in the municipio. Women throughout the lowland Tzeltal area wear similar traditional costumes. This consists of a white blouse with very short sleeves that is decorated with bands of fine cross-stitch embroidery and commercially made lace around the neckline. The women wear indigo skirts that are decorated at the hip with wide bands of colorful, satin ribbons. The skirts are folded in a way so that they create a deep, v-shaped pleat in front of the women’s bodies. Narrow, handloomed cotton belts, which have multicolored stripes, are used to secure the skirts.

Bob has a costume in his collection that consists of all these elements: the blouse, skirt, and belt. Mostly likely, this costume comes from someplace in the Municipio of Chilon or in the tiny Municipio of Yajalon to the northeast of Chilon
