The town of San Pedro Amuzgo is located in Oaxaca north of Pinotepa Nacional. The weavers there have a long tradition of fine brocade weaving. The huipils shown here we purchased in 1971 in Huajuapan de Leon Oaxaca at a handicrafts store set up by the Amusgo to sell their handicrafts. The red huipil at the top is one of the finest in the collection. The two huipils that follow are the gauze type with a beautiful combination of traditional designs |
