La Tortuga is a small hamlet were traditional dress is now extinct. However many women make a living embroidering napkins, tablecloths, tortilla cloths and other textiles using a variety of types of stitches.

La Tortuga – Is a very small Otomi community in the heart of the Huehuetla district. The women in this community embroider napkins, table cloths and tortilla cloths for sale in the local markets. I visited this village with representative of the Commission for the Development of Indigenous Peoples in early January. It was only possible to get to the village in a 4x4 .
